Recent form
Ryan Garcia arrives as champion off a unanimous-decision win over Mario Barrios (Feb 2026) that landed him the WBC belt. Before that he dropped a decision to Rolly Romero (May 2025), and his April 2024 bout with Devin Haney is officially a No Contest — originally a Garcia win, overturned after an adverse drug test and subsequent suspension.
Conor Benn is on a genuine roll: a decision over former champion Regis Prograis in April 2026 (his Zuffa Boxing debut) earned this title shot, and it followed a hard-fought decision over Chris Eubank Jr. in their November 2025 rematch. His lone defeat was the first Eubank Jr. fight in April 2025.
The storyline
Both men carry weight beyond the belt. Benn — son of British legend Nigel Benn — spent nearly two years in limbo after twice testing positive for clomifene in 2022; his provisional suspension was lifted in November 2024 when a panel was "not comfortably satisfied" a violation had occurred, and he has since rebuilt inside the ring.
